Judith is a British artist and printmaker based in her studio in Wales. Her early years were spent in various parts of Africa. Returning home to Britain, she graduated in Fine Art, painting and printmaking, at the West of England College of Art, Bristol. A career in teaching art helped inform and inspire wide-ranging ideas for her own work, which is now a full time occupation.
‘My interest in printmaking processes is key to the direction of my work. My choice of subject is often dictated by my current printmaking preoccupation.
Intaglio and collagraph processes continue to fascinate me. I am also exploring the painterly approach of monotype, as well as many relief processes such as wood engraving, Japanese wood block, and multi block lino cuts. My subject matter often returns to the natural world. Living in Wales, the landscape has a profound effect on my work. There is a constant recurrence of visual motifs and symbols associated with the mythic cycles of nature and life.’
My original prints are in many private and public collections. I am a member of Swansea Print Workshopand Aberystwyth Printmakersand exhibit regularly with these groups.
