Sue spent many years teaching art to secondary school and latterly primary school pupils. In 2007 Sue went back to the beginning and took a foundation course at Hereford College of Art. It was sandblasting a piece of glass that was to be the start of her passion for glass. Following the completion of her foundation degree with a distinction Sue took a leap and was accepted at Swansea Metropolitan University to study for an MA in Glass.
She uses many different glass techniques to achieve the effect she desires. She experiments with ways to ‘draw and paint’ in glass, taking her skills from the paper onto the glass. Sue continues to use sandblasting on occasions but now also hand makes moulds to slump the glass, she paints on glass using traditional stained glass methods, and fuses glass to bring colour into her work. It is by combining different ways of working with glass that the unexpected can happen, providing endless stimulation and excitement.
Sue makes individual pieces to commission as well as making bespoke stained glass windows.
Sue takes part in Hereford Art week, Crickhowell Open Studio, Brecon Art Beat and Glasbury Arts Festival and shows her work in other galleries in Wales.
