wool and wire
Gloucestershire designer, Jackie Creed, has always loved creating. From learning to knit with her Granny, tatting with her Auntie, making small toys, then studying needlework and pottery at school.
‘My love of pottery and moulding something from a ball of clay has now turned into moulding something from a bundle of wool. I attended an afternoon craft workshop with a friend to try our hand at needle felting, which is based on stabbing un-spun wool with a barbed felting needle until you shape the wool into the intended form. What you end up with is a sculpture that is so tactile with a character all of its own – no two are ever the same. It takes a lot of time, skill and patience, but I love being able to create small animal sculptures and keepsakes.
A much enjoyed hobby led to commissions and now this, I am so excited, my first exhibition.
I hope you enjoy my work.’
